Which is better for your business, payroll software or a personal payroll service?
Posted March 25, 2018 09:24:20A survey released this week by the payroll software company PwC found that for some people, personal payroll services are better for them than a payroll software service.
The Pwc survey polled employees of major companies, including those that make software for payroll.
It found that employees of companies that make payroll software are more likely to prefer personal payroll software over a payroll service, and that employees with employer-provided coverage are more willing to pay for a personal service.
The survey, conducted in early 2018, also found that only 26 percent of employees who use a personal employer-sponsored service like payroll software said they would go to the office for a checkup.
But for those with employer coverage, payroll was seen as a better option for their health, wellness, and financial security.
More:In the survey, employees were asked to rate their preference for a payroll or a computer-based service based on three categories: the ease of use, ease of handling, and ease of maintaining.
The most popular categories were ease of setup (59 percent), ease of managing (53 percent), and ease to manage (51 percent).
When asked which was the most important consideration when deciding between a personal or computer-related payroll service: ease of operation, ease in managing, and a personal experience, most employees (62 percent) chose the convenience of payroll.
But, the survey found, only 38 percent of those who use payroll software say they would choose the convenience and the ability to check in from home, compared to 51 percent who would choose personal care.
